FFG Announces Charity of the Year
The Foyle Food Group’s Charity of Choice for 2008 is Action Cancer.
We are pleased to announce that our Charity of the Year for 2008 will be Action Cancer.
Action Cancer is Northern Ireland's leading local Cancer Charity, working to save lives and support people affected by cancer. Cancer is currently the biggest killer in Ireland; statistics show that one in three people will develop cancer at some stage during their lifetime.
Presenting a cheque for £20,000 to Action Cancer representatives Maeve Fox and Kerry McCrea are Nigel McIlwaine and Leslie Otterson from the Foyle Food Group.
80% of cancers are preventable; the Group’s donation of £20,000 will help support Action Cancer’s programme of activities to save lives and support people from the risk of cancer.
During the next 12 months, representatives from Action Cancer will visit each site within the Group to provide information, advice and guidance on the different ways in which we as individuals and as a Company we can take steps to reduce the risk of contracting cancer through:
• Health screening - Male, Female
• Healthy lifestyles - Food, Exercise
Information and advice will also be incorporated into the Group's current health screening programme for all employees.
