CANCER DIAGNOSIS EVERY HOUR – BUSINESSES CAN HELP!

The Rt. Hon. the Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor Jim Rodgers, OBE, helped launch Action Cancer’s Everyhour Club this week, encouraging businesses in Northern Ireland to join the leading local charity’s new corporate club.

The Everyhour Club has been established to highlight the fact that every hour in Northern Ireland, someone receives a cancer diagnosis. It will provide a range of benefits for businesses including a free health promotion session for their workplace, discounts on BIG BUS bookings, PR coverage and an annual get together for members.

Two well known businesses have become founding members of the initiative, The Foyle Food Group and House of Fraser, and it is hoped that their peers will follow suit.

Action Cancer Everyhour

Action Cancer, Northern Ireland’s leading local cancer charity, is asking businesses to become annual members of the Everyhour Club to help the 40,000 people in Northern Ireland who are living with cancer at any one stage.  Speaking at the event, The Lord Mayor said he was delighted to help the local charity and hopes that many businesses in Northern Ireland will sign up to the new club and help Action Cancer to save lives and support people living with cancer in Northern Ireland.

Kerry McCrea, Corporate Fundraising Officer for Action Cancer said: “We are delighted that The Lord Mayor has offered his support for the Everyhour Club.  In return for funds, Action Cancer will provide services to the business, which will help prevent cancer and raise awareness of what their employees need to look out for.  This will no doubt help early detections, which is vital in order to save more lives.  As a Northern Ireland charity we rely very heavily on donations from the public and business communities to help us provide our services so we would encourage anyone interested to please get in touch and sign up!

By pledging £600, each business member will help Action Cancer to provide breast screening for 9 women or MOT health checks for 17 people or counselling for 20 people who are affected by cancer.
