‘Opportunity Now’ for FFG

The FFG has taken part in the ‘Opportunity Now’ campaign’s national benchmarking survey to measure its level of equality and diversity in the workplace.

‘Opportunity Now’ is a Business in the Community’s gender equality and diversity campaign. The FFG participated in the benchmarking survey along with 76 other companies across the UK.

Opportunity NowBy 2011, it is estimated that only 20% of the workforce will be white, male, able bodied and under the age of 45. As such, for employers seeking talent, a diverse workforce will become the norm. The benchmarking tool provides a fantastic health check for employers to highlight strengths, identify challenges and signpost priorities for the future.

Along with the University of Ulster, Limavady Borough Council, the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, the Foyle Food Group received a silver standard for the equality, diversity and inclusion of its workforce.

On receiving the news, Leslie Otterson, Group HR Manager, said: “The Foyle Food Group is delighted to be a diverse organisation. The company recognises the huge benefits from involvement with Business in the Community’s Opportunity Now programme and believes that by means of our talented workforce we will grow from strength to strength.”

Opportunity NowTanya Kennedy, Workplace Director for Business in the Community, commented, “We are delighted with the high standard of results from our Northern Ireland members. It is important to highlight to others that the creation of inclusive and diverse workplaces is a business imperative which can help them to weather the recession”.

Companies who get involved in Business in the Community’s Opportunity Now benchmarking and appreciate the value of diversity are ahead of the game as the trend towards diversity becomes stronger in the coming years.
